1) Give an example from film or television that uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium.  Any superhero movie follows Todorov's equilibrium as they start of with a general harmony and little to no problems. The disturbance is introduced when a super villain comes to whatever city and begins causing havoc. It is then left up to the super hero to fight the villain (and probably get defeated the first  couple of times) and ultimately beat him to create a new equilibrium. 2) Complete the activity on page 1 of the Factsheet: find a clip on YouTube of the opening of a new TV drama series (season 1, episode 1). Embed the clip in your blog and write an analysis of the narrative markers that help establish setting, character and plot. The equilibrium is established as the characters and their roles are introduced. Ghost and his night club is showcased along with his wife. Tommy is then introduced with his violent attitude when he

WWW: This is a mixed picture – your RBK advert analysis shows a decent command of media terminology (it really comes across that you’ve studied the subject at GCSE). I also think you’ve done a solid job applying reception theory to the two adverts. EBI: There are several issues to address here. Firstly, you are missing a key piece of work: the media consumption audit ( https://mediamacguffin12.blogspot.co.uk/2017/09/introduction-to-media-media-consumption.html ). The icon/index/symbol task is complete but feels very rushed – there is nowhere near enough detail here for A Level (this is a shame as you’ve picked some interesting texts). In terms of time, I don’t see a great deal of evidence on your blog that you are putting in the five hours of homework in the subject each week. In fact, most of what is on your blog could have been done in lesson time. Without putting in the extra time you won’t get close to a top grade in the subject – this is an important lesson to learn early on

1) What example is provided of why visual iconographies are so important? The use of deep space to present a Sci-Fi, this is so movies can present, and set the scene without having to directly tell the audience. This can be said as "Show not tell" as the audience isn't told what the genre is but they're able to identify the genre just by an opening scene. 2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre? Tabloid newspapers are clearly identifiable by the way they are laid out, in the black and white writing.  3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies? In action movies they tend to be incredibly brave and fast, whereas in disaster movies they tend to be smarter. But they both always have a valiant and heroic character that helps out. One of the differences may be that in disaster movies more people tend to die. 4) What are the different ways films can be categori
